What to Expect on Your Hunt  What To Expect From Illinois Bucks

Property ~ Hunt areas ~ Maps

Vermilion County Illinois and the Danville Illinois area is a prime area for Whitetail Mature Buck Hunting. See Map 1 at right.

The map at right shows the city of Danville which has the convergence of three rivers; the Salt Fork, the Middle Fork and the North Fork (flowing into Lake Vermilion). The three forks then form the Big Vermilion River.

The hunt area is due north of Danville on Jordan Creek a tributary of the North Fork of the Vermilion River system. To the north of Bald Acorn hunt site is the Jordan Creek Nature Preserve. (See Map 2)

The wildlife preserve  is a NO hunting area of 550 acres. Bald Acorn and few other privately owned land parcels  surround the preserve area, or approximately 700 acres of wooded land.

The Bald Acorn Hunting Site (Map 3 at right) is a large wooded area with several creek  crossings and deer trails. On the north portion of the land is a beaver dam which allows for a ford for deer crossing in a shallow bubbling brook. Dam is at center of the aerial view below.

(Tree shadows make the creek's water appear dark,
it is several feet wide at this point, but easy to wade)
